Background
Hypospadias remains one of the most common congenital malformations across the globe occurring in 1/250 births or as frequently as 1/125 male births. Every year close to one lakh babies are born in India with hypospadias and many of these small kids do not receive appropriate management. Uncorrected hypospadias pose psychosocial problems and sexual dysfunction later on. Surgical correction of hypospadias requires dedication, skills, perseverance and a good team. Dr Singal and Dr Dubey have formed a team for management of this complex problem. Over last two years more than 100 children with varying degree of hypospadias have been operated by this team with excellent results at par with the international standards.
Further research is aimed at finding out various agents/ pollutants which can act as endocrine disruptors and cause hypospadias.
