Though originally from Greece, Ioannis Padadatos was employed with a company in Delhi, India. He and his wife, Maria were blessed with twins – Konstantinos and Spyridon but both were noted to have hypospadias at birth. The hypospadias was relatively severe penoscrotal hypospadias with chordee in both the children. After exchange of a few emails, Ioannis and Maria came to Navi Mumbai when the kids were 6 months old, in Nov 2013 to us. After the blood tests and fitness, finally they came again for surgery in December 2013. Spyridon underwent hypospadias surgery on a Monday while Konstantinos underwent repair the next day on Tuesday. Though both had severe hypospadias, the whole hypospadias surgical correction was performed in single stage using “Tranverse Prepucial Onlay Island Flap urethroplasty” of which Dr Singal is an renowned expert. The correction of penile curvature (chordee correction) and formation of new urinary tube (urethroplasty) were all performed in one stage. Both had an excellent outcome after surgery and did not need any further treatment.
Now 1.5 years after surgery, the family shares their experience with us:
On October 2012 we accepted a job opportunity and our family moved to India. We had already a 2 year old daughter and on April 2013, we were blessed with the birth of twin baby boys in New Delhi. Unfortunately, both babies had a birth defect called hypospadias, both of them in a severe form. After a lot of research in our country (Greece) and in India, we found out on the internet about Dr. Singal’s clinic, specialized in hypospadias treatment and we decide to give a try and make a trip to Mumbai. The meeting with Dr. Singal himself filled us with confidence and a sense of security that everything would go as wanted. We had already visited a number of doctors (in Greece and India) and more or less we knew the requirements of the surgery. After that visit we decided instantly to trust our new born babies to Dr. Singal, even though we had to travel far from our living place at that time (New Delhi).
From day 1 he treated our boys with the outmost gentility and concern like they were his precious gifts. The surgeries took place on sequential days .The clinic facilities were satisfactory and the staff was skillful and most helpful. As we had no other external assistance, we were allowed to stay all family together in the hospital for 4 days. As we left Mumbai, we got very clear instructions as to the medication and the handling of the babies for the next 10 days, when Dr. Singal examined them again and it was ascertained that everything had gone as expected.
After that, he examined them two more times (on 3 and 6 months’ time) in person. We were also able to send him video recordings in between these intervals, on which he responded promptly keeping always in mind the babies’ welfare.
Now, 1½ years after the operation, our twins are fine and healthy thanks to Dr. Arbinder K. Singal.
